Bilingual Family Support & Outreach Specialist

Quin Rivers, Inc. Community Action Agency is currently recruiting a Full-Time Bilingual Family Support & Outreach Specialist.  The Bilingual Family Support & Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing culturally competent response services to at-risk families in the Healthy Families Program as well as providing services to survivors of sexual & domestic violence.

Essential duties to include:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with allied professional organizations, community members and other service providers
  • Reviewing and updating protocols and procedures related to service delivery and quality of service monitoring
  • Preparing and maintaining files and records, adhering to all State, Federal and private funding sources
  • Providing direct and indirect service to victims of domestic and sexual violence
  • Providing safety planning with clients; assisting with emergency services, such as accompaniment to the hospital and transportation to shelter, etc.
  • Conducting outreach and promoting Quin Rivers programs in the Latino community

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the field of psychology, social work or other relevant field.
  • At least five or more years of relevant education in the field of social work/health/human service and/or experience with domestic violence and sexual violence advocacy essential
  • The ability to maintain a compassionate and professional approach while working with individuals in crisis situations; clients of diverse ethnic, religious, national and educational levels; and individuals with various language, sexual orientation, cultural and class backgrounds
  • Excellent writing, public speaking, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in planning and conducting training programs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher preferred
  • Demonstrated effective, empowering leadership abilities, critical thinking strategies and appropriate decision-making

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be fluent in Spanish
  • Maintain reliable transportation and a valid VA state driver’s license
  • Successful background check
  • Ability to travel locally and statewide
  • Ability to maintain flexible schedule including night and weekend hours

Community Outreach Specialist

Quin Rivers, Inc. Community Action Agency is currently recruiting a Part-Time (25 hours per week) Community Outreach Specialist.  The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing and administrating community violence prevention programs with special emphasis in the LGBTQ and Elder communities.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with allied professional organizations, community members and other service providers
  • Reviewing and updating protocols and procedures related to service delivery and quality of service monitoring
  • Preparing and maintaining files and records, adhering to all State, Federal and private funding sources
  • Providing direct and indirect service to victims of domestic and sexual violence
  • Providing safety planning with clients; assisting with emergency services, such as accompaniment to the hospital, transportation to shelter, etc.
